A MAN who made headlines when an explosive went off in his bum has "suffered enough'' and won't be fined for having illicit fireworks, police said.

Alex Bowden, 23, of Wagaman, spent several days in hospital after burning his buttocks with a winged spinning "flying bee'' on July 28.
Acting Senior Sergeant Crispin Gargan yesterday confirmed to The NT News that Mr Bowden was not fined the usual $282.
"`We believe he has suffered enough in relation to firecrackers,'' Sen Sgt Gargan said.

The drunken antics unfolded during a party when Mr Bowden, a fitter and turner, said he was showing some friends from Queensland "a Territory good time".
They had a few beers and set off sporadic contraband crackers -- presumably they had been left over from legal celebrations on July 1.

``And I put one in my arse. . . I didn't burn my balls or back,'' he told The NT News at the time, adding his mum thought it was funny.

Man drops gun in movie theater, shooting self in buttocks

Police say a man accidentally shot himself in the buttocks at a Nevada movie theater during a showing of “The Bourne Legacy.”

The moviegoer was at the Century 14 theater Tuesday night when a gunshot rang out.
After receiving several calls reporting seven to eight shots, police in Sparks, Nev., dispatched police units as well as fire and medical crews only to find out one shot was fired by accident.
Witnesses inside the theater told officers the gun fell from the man’s pocket as he was adjusting himself in the seat, and it fired when it dropped to the floor, striking him in the buttocks.
The 56-year-old man then reportedly stood up, apologized to those around him and left the theater before police arrived. He checked himself into a nearby VA hospital in Reno, where he was treated for a gunshot wound to his buttocks, according to a police report. His injury is not considered to be life-threatening.
Police say there was no panic in the theater and that only five people reported hearing the gunshot out of the approximately 30 people in the audience. No one else on the scene was injured.
Police said the man has a valid permit to carry a concealed firearm.

Party trick gone wrong, he wont be sitting for a while.

A NORTHERN Territory man may be flown to Adelaide after a party trick involving setting off firecrackers between his buttocks went badly wrong.

The 23-year-old man was at a party in the Darwin suburb of Rapid Creek on Saturday night when he decided to let the cracker off, NT Police said.
"It appears a party was in full progress when a young male decided to place a firework between the cheeks of his bottom and light it," said Senior Sergeant Garry Smith.
"What must of seemed to be a great idea at the time has backfired, resulting in the male receiving quite severe and very painful burns to his cheeks, back and private bits," Snr Sgt Smith said.
Alcohol was a possible factor involved in the stunt, police said.
Paramedics were called although the man had reportedly already taken himself to hospital by the time they arrived.
On Monday police said they believed he would be flown to a specialist burns unit at the Royal Adelaide Hospital.
A Royal Darwin Hospital spokeswoman was unable to confirm the man would be flown to Adelaide but said flights to the specialist unit would indicate he had was seriously injured.
The man's woes may not be over once his burns heal.
Police said anyone possessing fireworks outside of an approved period faces a $282 fine.
Fireworks in NT can only legally be set off on July 1, known as Territory Day, when the region celebrates its anniversary of being awarded self-governance.
After that day they must be disposed of, but fireworks are often set off for weeks afterwards as people use leftover supplies.
